Please join us Friday, September 28th, anytime between 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Chris Paxton to our wine bar. Chris is the Bay Area Beer Sales Representative for Epic Brewing, and he will be pouring a flight of five of his favorite Epic beers.
Epic Brewing is Utah’s first brewery since prohibition to brew exclusively high alcohol content beer. Epic handcrafts and carefully bottles its unique products in 22-ounce bottles, perfect for sharing or a long savor, solo style. Established in Salt Lake City, Utah by David Cole and Peter Erickson, the company started off with six fermentation tanks, giving it the flexibility to create a variety of small batch, artisanal beers. Within a few short months, Epic began earning medals for its beers domestically and internationally. The beer became a big hit with locals and out of state visitors alike and demand rapidly increased. The brewery currently houses eight times its original fermentation space and produces over 40 different styles of beer including the following five delicious and unique brews.
Tart N Juicy American IPA Normally a sour beer and IPA would be contradictory styles because the flavor combinations can be tough to bring together in just the right way. Epic combined the clean, puckering tartness of kettle souring with an abundance of juicy, citrus-driven hops to create a beer that’s the best of both worlds. Tart N Juicy has bright notes of grapefruit, agave, tangerine and passion fruit.
RiNo Juicy APA is the reimagining of RiNo Pale Ale, one of the first beers Epic brewed to season their Denver brewhouse. It's updated with loads of juicy, late-addition, Centennial and Mosaic hops, just a bit of haze to soften the mouth-feel and a bright burst of colorful tropical aromas. This pale ale is complex and robust but also very easy going.
Common Interests American Wild Ale is a light-straw color with just a hint of green in the highlights. Sweet honeydew rind, clean earth and oak hit the nose. The first sip is bright with citrus-tartness, lime and pith that fades quickly to a cooling ripe-melon-sweetness with hints of cereal grain, tilled earth and root cellar. The effervescence lifts quickly off the palate taking the acidity but leaving hints of honeydew and the harvest season.
Oak & Orchard Cabernet Sauvignon Sour Ale This release of Oak & Orchard is bright red garnet in color with little to no head. The first smell greets you with a big fruity aroma of blueberries followed by sharp acidity and earthy well cellared funk. The first sip is like biting into toast with jam. The fragrant berry sweetness is countered with tart, puckering sourness and a nice hint of toasted crust on the finish.
New England Style IPA: Drama Juice This hazy New-England style IPA is packed with Juicy flavors of orange, passion fruit, and grapefruit without the typical bitterness of the IPA. They use an abundance of late addition Simcoe, Comet, and Citra hops and even more generous dry hop additions.
