An Evening of Stand Up Comedy: Dave Nihill
Dave Nihill got his unconventional start in comedy when he tried to overcome his public speaking fears by pretending to be an accomplished comedian called “Irish Dave” for one full year, crashing as many comedy clubs, festivals and shows as possible. One part of the plan was at least logical; he was already Irish and already called Dave. By the end of that year Dave had been on tour with some of Ireland’s best comedians, performed at leading comedy clubs across the US and wrote the bestselling book Do You Talk Funny? arguing that comedians are the world’s true masters of public speaking. (Published by Benbella/Persius).
Dave was part of the Irish Kings of Comedy Tour, San Francisco Sketchfest, the Kansas City Irish Festival, the Westside Standup Showdown Festival, the Ventura Comedy Festival, the Wine Country Comedy Festival and runner up in the Moth’s largest sold out US Grandslam storytelling competition at the 1400 seater Castro Theatre in San Francisco. He has shared the stage with the likes of Harland Williams, Dana Gould, Whitney Cummings, Jeremy Hotz, Pat Hazell, Jack Coen, Don Reed, Steve Mazan, Mo Amir, Marga Gomez, Charles Fleischer, Kate Willett, Frank Conniff, Leo Flowers, Aparna Nancherla, Loyiso Gola, Jim Short, Dwayne Perkins and Colin Murphy. Dave is also the founder of Comedy for a Spinal Cause and FunnyBizz Conferences.
