Rosemont Market has a new monthly wine and food event series, First-Name Basis. First-Name Basis events play host to great wine people whom we know personally and love. We invite you to break a little bread with them, taste a lot of their wines (some are regular Rosemont favorites, some are special/rare/old/never-before-available), and get to know them as people. It’s just a great hang. Each event runs 5-7pm, you choose which hour-long slot you’d like to come for, pay $20, and leave with no need for dinner but much more appreciation for the world than when you arrived.
In September, our guest of honor at First-Name Basis II is a good friend, a great person, a font of wisdom, a lot of fun to be with: Carlos Hubner-Arteta, of Viños Libres Wines. Carlos started his import company with an incredible portfolio of Spanish winemakers with whom he’d developed relationships over decades. This portfolio includes truly extraordinary wines as well as incredible-value everyday bottles, but each one of them is true, characterful, unique. Lately Carlos has expanded his purview a bit, and in addition to some terrific new-to-Maine Spanish gems from Bierzo, Ribera del Duero, Cigales, Basque Country and more, we’re going to pour one of the coolest California Chardonnays (es verdad!) that you’ve ever drunk. Carlos really knows his stuff, but most importantly he is a total blast to spend time with.
Logistics: While First-Name Basis II will run 5-7pm, we assign all attendees a time slot, arrival either 5pm or 6pm. It’s not super-firm, and you’re welcome to linger past your “end time”; the purpose is just to spread out the human flow a bit. Please email us at wineclub@rosemontmarket.com to reserve your spots, tell us your preferred arrival time as well as the number in your party. We’ll reply with a confirmation and other information. Payment will be taken at the door. Usually these events sell out, but you’re welcome to walk in as well if you’d like to roll the dice!
