Scandinavians have been making this caraway and herb infused spirit since the 1500’s, but it’s a relative unknown in the US. Time to change that! Best thought of as a cousin to gin, America distillers are applying the same creative spirit we’ve seen there to crafting uniquely delicious aquavits. In this class you’ll taste traditional Scandinavian aquavit as well as modern aquavits from a pair of Michigan distillers (Norden and Long Road) before crafting them into cocktails. Our guest speaker will be aquavit distiller Robyn Cleveland from Michigan’s brand-new Norden Aquavit!
Your booking includes light snacks (pretzels, nuts). The Last Word is closed during the class, so no food service is available. The class includes a combination of history and stories, technique instruction, and hands-on making of cocktails. Plus sampling, of course! Total consumption is equivalent to 1.5-2 cocktails per person over the 90-120 minute class.
