Local Event
Cost: 45
Join Wine Lovers of NYC on September 23 for a guided tasting of spectacular wines made from the Garnacha (Spanish) / Grenache (French) grapes from northeastern Spain and Roussillon in southeastern France. Experts from the region will talk about the wines and the winemakers as we taste 10 wines accompanied by artisan foods.
This is one of a month-long series of events celebrating Garnacha/Grenache taking place in September at Pierre Loti Chelsea. A schedule of all the events is at http://chelsea.pierrelotiwinebar.com and at http://wineny.com.
European quality Garnacha/Grenache is one of the world’s oldest and most widely planted wine grapes. Luscious, fruity and very diverse, it is perfectly suited to Euro-Mediterranean climate and terroirs, where it can reveal its most intense and enamoring expressions. While most people know Garnacha/Grenache for playing a role in GSM blends, a new generation of winemakers in eastern Spain and in Roussillon France is crafting innovative wines in which the grape plays the starring role. A sip of these new wines is enough to understand European quality Garnacha/Grenache’s ability to deliver complex, structured and well-balanced wines.
