Experience an amazing variety of over 30 South African wines from the regions of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Robertson, Swartland and more. The winemaking history in South Africa goes back to the late 1600s and has had amazing resurgence in the last 10 years with the emergence of a group of new winemakers who are innovative risk takers. Explore these wines with us as you nosh on generous regional appetizers, view a demonstration of table top smokers, listen to the refreshing sounds of DJ Viogner while viewing stunning safari photography from renowned photographer Beverly Houwing.

Therese Peters – South African Wine Specialist
Therese fell in love with the wines of South Africa on her 1st trip to Africa almost 10 years ago. She has traveled there over 5 times, and will return to lead her own Wine Safari in October 2018. She has completed the South African Master Class sponsored by WOSA Wines of South Africa and is excited to share her enthusiasm for what she considers the hidden gem of wine countries.
Beverly Houwing – Travel Photographer
Beverly has been to all seven continents and visited 75 countries, focusing on documenting the wildlife and landscapes in these places. Her work has been shown at The Annenberg Space for Photography, as well as featured in Smithsonian and other magazines, in galleries and curated exhibits. Africa is her favorite part of the world and she organizes annual trips there.
DJ Viognier
DJ Viognier is the nom de turntable of composer/producer McKinley Marshall. A devotee of the noble white grape, DJ Viognier is likewise rooted in California, where she blends full-bodied, lush tracks of ripe vintage rhythm with aromatic notes of harmony and melody. At our Wine Safari, DJ Viognier will spin an homage to her namesake varietal that populates the Cape Winelands region of South Africa. Post-set, she may answer to “DJ Fermented.”
Christopher P Lavin – Vice President of Sales, Broadbent Selections
Chris has been entrenched in the Southern California wine scene for the last 20 years. A Certified Wine Educator and Advanced Sommelier, he is considered an authority on what has been happening in the South African wine trade over the last 15 years. Broadbent Selections is owned by Bartholomew Broadbent, one of the most influential people in the wine industry.
