Yes, the famous estates and regions of Burgundy have become ridiculously expensive.  But there’s value to be found in Burgundy if you know how and where to look – and no one knows how to look for value in hidden corners of France than Falls Church-based importer Ed Addiss of Wine Traditions.  So come and experience seven Burgundies you can afford to drink without compromise in quality or joy paired with a classic Burgundian feast from Chef Jacques Imperato!

Our theme is “Unexpected Burgundy Pleasure” and our method is to explore some great small producers working in overlooked regions.  Not only is the quality/price ratio (“QPR”) unexpected – even the order we’ll serve the wines is!  From pink to red to white to back to red and then mature Chablis as the grand finale, the only thing “traditional” about this meal is the quality of Jacques’ cooking and the delight of great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  Here’s the menu and wines:

Marcel Giraudon Bourgogne Rose 2017

Chicken liver, pork confit, topped with crispy flaky dough
Beet, cranberry, strawberry onion compote, red wine vinegar

Marcel Giraudon Bourgogne Rouge 2017

Warm salmon soufflé, Smoked salmon, frisee and spinach chiffonade,
hazelnut dressing, Beurre blanc Gribiche

Dom Geoffrey Chevalier Pouilly Loche 2015
Le Chai Duchet Vire Clesse Quintessance 2015

Marinated flank steak, filled with veal, apple, croûtons and vegetables
Burgundy red wine and thyme sauce, Potato paillasson, glazed turnips

Dom Billard Hautes Cotes de Beaune Route 2016
Dom Ballard Saint Aubin Rouge 1er Cru Les Castets 2016

Walnut risotto, St Nectaire cheese fondue, crispy garlic baguettes
Arugula salad, honey walnut dressing

Dom Gautheron Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourneaux 2010

At just $90 per person, inclusive of tax and tip, the meal is more than just impressive – like the wines themselves, it’s fantastic value!  La Cote d’Or Restaurant is located at 6876 Lee Hwy, Arlington, VA 22213, just off Rt. 66 and within walking distance of the East Falls Church Metro station. Parking is available next to the restaurant and along Westmorland Street.
