Mark your calendar and join us for our favorite event of the year—Civil War Day! Featuring a full day living history experience with Civil War reenactors, cannons, award-winning Virginia wine, sangria, a live skirmish, bluegrass music, food trucks, and more on June 24th!

12–2 pm/3–5 pm – Live Bluegrass Music: Sweet Yonder
Sweet Yonder is a fired-up, all-women, bluegrass band. They deliver a soulful punch in every performance with straight up instrumental attitude and truly inspiring vocal harmonies.

Throughout the Day
– Living History Demonstrations
Stop by the Union camp at the Winter Quarters in the Family Area or the Confederate camp near the Hillwood Ruins to learn about the life of a Civil War soldier. Interact with the soldiers and civilians as they portray life in the 1860s.
– Meet with Authors
Stop by author William Connery's tent near the Hillwood Ruins to learn more about the Civil War. Meet with multiple authors at the book signing tent near Hillwood Ruins.
– Manassas Museum
Stop by the tent near the Hillwood Ruins to hear more about the Manassas Museum.
– Civil War Medicine Presentation at the Winter Quarters
Take a trip back in time with presenter Brad Stone to learn how medical care was done in the Civil War era.

10:30 am – Gates Open (Doors Open at 11 am)
Parking will fill up quickly, so we recommend carpooling. Don't forget your picnic blankets and chairs!

11:30 am – Artillery Firing Demonstration at Union Camp
Learn about the power of artillery as you watch Union soldiers load and fire a cannon.

12 pm – Confederate Drill Demonstration at Confederate Camp
See Confederate troops practice 19th Century military drill and maneuvers and learn how troops moved and fought during the Civil War.

12:30 pm – Artillery Firing Demonstration at Union Camp
Learn about the power of artillery as you watch Union soldiers load and fire a cannon.

1 pm – Union Drill Demonstration at Union Camp
See Union troops practice 19th-century military drill and maneuvers and learn how troops moved and fought during the Civil War.

1 pm – Benson-Rice Storytelling
Hear the true story of reconciliation and healing between soldiers of the North and Confederate armies after the American Civil War.

2 pm – Skirmish 
Hear the rattle of muskets and get a small taste of what Civil War combat looked like as Confederate and Union forces clash in the fields next to the winery. Following the skirmish, stay along the fence line as both sides march by in review. 

3 pm – Zouave Presentation at Union Camp
Learn about the 5th New York Infantry, Duryée's Zouaves, a unique and colorful unit that played a key roll in the Second Battle of Bull Run near the winery.

3:30 pm – Children’s Muster in Family Section
Enlist your child in the army! A hands-on opportunity for children to learn about the Civil War and experience the life of a Civil War soldier.

4 pm – Artillery Firing Demonstration at Confederate Camp
Learn about the power of artillery as you watch Confederate soldiers load and fire a cannon.

4:30 pm – Music of the Civil War Demonstration at Confederate Camp
Learn about Civil War music and how Civil War armies used music to communicate through the din of battle.

6 pm – Event Concludes
