Cost: .Just 25 cents per taste, $1.00 for the WOW! Wine of the Week.
Corks have been the preferred choice for closing wine since the beginning of modern Europe in the 1400’s. However, over the past 15 years Screw Caps have become the closure of choice by more and more wineries. By far the biggest reason is the avoidance of Cork Taint, a nasty chemical known as Trichloroanisole, present in about 5% (or more) of wines closed with corks. Cork Taint can ruin the product, making it smell like wet newspapers and taste very nasty.
This Saturday’s tasting includes five wines with Screw Caps, all awarded 90 points or more by professional wine reviewers. We promise none of the wines will be ‘corked.’ Please join us!
