Our next dinner at The Yacht will be an introduction to a little-known Burgundy producer (at least in the UK).
Located in Château de Laborde, the “Versailles of Burgundy”, Hervé Kerlann produces wines with a difference. Be they the grapes from his own vineyards, or from the friends with whom he contracts to buy, Hervé gives the same intense effort to produce the best possible wine.
Innovative, pioneering and magnificently focused, his wines are charming, full of character and wonderfully satisfying. His White Pinot Noir is a real rarity and a must for all lovers of Burgundy. This is not a Pinot Blanc, but a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape which is only found in the vineyards of 2 or 3 other producers in the whole of Burgundy. And the quality of his Hautes-Côtes de Nuits wines really belies their official classification; they come from an escarpment very similar to that of the magnificent Corton-Charlemagne.
Hervé will be in attendance to take you through the wines and answer any questions you have about them. Douglas Harrison, of Best of Wines, his UK importer, will also be in attendance to answer your questions on how to get hold of these great, value-for-money wines.
