NY Adventure Club: Tasting Island Wines, From Santorini To New Zealand

Did you know there are wine-producing islands throughout the world? While the terroir, climate, and grapes of these islands are all very different, the one thing they share is considerable influence from the body of water that surrounds them. It's time to uncover the unique properties of island wines, from volcanic soils to windswept archipelagos, which are sure to leave a lasting impression.

Join New York Adventure Club as we taste and learn our way through eight wines from islands near and far, all inside a 1921 townhouse in Midtown that is now home to the Church of Sweden.

Led by Amy Karasavas, a certified sommelier, our unique experience at this intimate space in Manhattan will include:

 

• An overview of island wines, from the numerous wine regions to how these unique wines are cultivated
• A primer on how to see, smell, and taste wine
• A tasting of eight wine varietals including Assyrtiko (from Santorini, Greece), Cabernet Franc (from Long Island, NY), and Listan Negro (from Spain's Mallorcan and Canary Islands)
• A chance to mingle with other adventurers who enjoy wine as much as you do

 

Amy has traveled the world studying different styles of wine, and is ready to answer any and all questions about this storied refreshment!

About Amy

Amy Karasavas received her sommelier certification from the Sommelier Society of America. She is continuing her studies with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in 2020. She has traveled some of the world’s most famous wine regions, including Napa and Sonoma, Burgundy, Bordeaux, the Loire Valley, Portugal’s Duoro Valley, Chile's Maipo Valley, Tuscany, the Finger Lakes, and Long Island's North Fork.
