About the Importer:
Neal Rosenthal started his importing company back in 1977. He is very respected in the industry and imports many prestigious producers. He only imports French, Italian and Swiss producers who are mainly small grower producers (growers involved every step of the way – vineyard to bottle). The producers walk the line between tradition and idiosyncrasy. They generally use traditional winemaking techniques with minimal intervention and are often farming organically. His terroir-centric picks often leave fruitiness to the background and emphasize mineral and herbal tones; they have an Old-World style. The wines are generally without intense barrel presence (oakiness) or copious ripeness/extraction. He seeks wines of purity, finesse, and sublimity.

The Mad Rose Group is a family-run organization that is composed of a close-knit group of people who understand that wine is an agricultural product and that in its best and purest form, wine must reflect a specific sense of place. They share the goal of communicating this concept to a growing audience by presenting the finest examples of wine made in the classical western European tradition.

The objective from the outset was to work as directly as possible with growers who were dedicated to producing limited quantities of the finest quality wines and who shared the RWM passion for "terroir," that ephemeral "sense of place." The wines are selected for concentration, purity of flavors, and clarity of expression. Each grower is visited twice yearly to follow the evolution of the wines and to track the development of each estate. The entire sales staff also visits each grower so that the nuances of each domaine can be successfully communicated to the American marketplace.
