France – the home of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne – is arguably the world's most important wine-producing country. For centuries, it has produced wine in greater quantity – and of reportedly greater quality – than any other nation. Join us as we sample a few fabulous finds, this Saturday from 12-3 pm.
1.Dom. de la Foliette Sauvignon Blanc, Loire ,2018, $13.99
Aromas of exotic fruits, a hint of peach and apricot. A rich structure and very nice freshness with good balance between liveliness and fineness on the palate.
2.Barth Rene Grains de Genie Blend, Alsace, 2017 $15.99
Grains de Génie blends four important Alsace white grape varieties: Riesling (comprising almost half), Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Muscat. Vinified in stainless steel and with only five grams of residual sugar, this dry wine is balanced by fresh acidity and tinged with mineral notes, apple and citrus.
3. Domaine Chapuis Bourgogne Pinot Noir,Burgundy, 2018 $19.99
Developed nose and colour, but the palate is juicy and fresh with good minerality and crunchy pomegranate and redcurrant fruit.
4.Dom. de Vervine Vacqueyras, Rhone, 2016, $21.99
Rich, powerful and complex, this juicy, ageworthy Vacqueyras is a classic southern Rhône blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Pour yourself a glass and enjoy a mouthful of rich, spice layered, velvety fruit and a finish that seems to last forever
5. Le Vin des Noces, Cahors, 2008 $19.99
Aromas of dried blackberries and currants are layered with scents of anise, damp tobacco, cedar, and mushrooms, carrying over to the medium-bodied palate
