Level 2 is a survey course designed for students with a general interest in the subject of wine and spirits and hospitality professionals who only require a basic understanding for their position. Level 2 exposes the student to the major grape varieties and wine regions of the world through academic instruction with accompanying tastings at every session. In addition to still wines, Level 2 covers sparkling and fortified wines. A graduate of Level 2 will have the practical abilities to interpret labels, provide basic advice on food and wine pairing, and evaluate wines using a systematic tasting approach.
This course is for Level 1 graduates as well as students with a sound grasp of the basics. WSET recommends twelve hours of self-study in addition to the class time for this course. At the end of the course, the WSET Level 2 Certificate and Pin are presented to the candidates who successfully complete a multiple choice examination.
