Cost: $30.00 for 3-Course Menu + $15 for Wine Pairing

San Diego Restaurant Week officially starts the following week, but we're giving our customers a special "sneak peek" of our Restaurant Week menu on January 16-18.  Chef and I had a blast putting together this super creative menu that we know you'll enjoy as much as the wines and beverages they're paired with.  We've both spent a fair amount of time in San Sebastian (home of the most Michelin Star restaurants per capita in the world!), and since Chef just returned from a junket there, we thought it would be fun to put together a San Sebastian themed menu for this year's Restaurant Week.

Cost is a mere $30 for a 3-course dinner and includes one choice from all three categories below. Wine pairings for all three courses are also available for $15. If you don't want to order the wine pairing, wines by the glass or bottle, cocktails and beer are also available.

Wine notes and bottle prices are at the end of this announcement if you're interested.

If you're interested in coming please make your reservation as soon as possible as some days are already starting to fill up. Reservations can be made for seatings anytime between 5:30 and 8:30. Here's the line-up:

NOTE: In order for us to provide the best possible service during this especially busy time we regret that we must limit party sizes to a maximum of four guests.

WINE NOTES & BOTTLE PRICES
2015 Treana Blanc ~ $21
(Central Coast) Winemaker's Notes: 45% Viognier, 45% Marsanne + 10% Roussanne. A stunning example of a new world Rhone blend with aromas and flavors of pineapple, dried apricot, peach and Clementine orange that combine with floral notes of honeysuckle and elderflower. Sweet notes of marzipan, honey, graham cracker along with cinnamon and vanilla round out this complex, full-bodied and racy wine.

2017 J Vineyards Pinot Noir ~ $17
(California) Winemaker's Notes: Aromatic notes of exotic spice, cherry preserves and black tea. The palate is plush, jammy and ripe with flavors of spicy black pepper, cola and plum. Enjoy this wine with roasted leg of lamb with a balsamic-fig reduction or cranberry-glazed roast turkey breast with creamy mushroom risotto.

2018 Borsao Rosé ~ $9
(Spain) 100% Grenache. Winemaker's Notes: Red luminescent color with warm glows. Has a strong aroma of berries and sweets. Very young and fresh in the mouth, well balanced with its acidity, rich in floral nuances and spices.

2008 Saxon Brown "Parmalee Hill Camp Block" Syrah ~ $30
(Sonoma Coast) Winemaker's Notes: Very dark and dense color; Cassis, blackberry, plum, slight licorice and latex, black current, sweet cigar tobacco, with black olive. On the palate - richness and a concentration of sweet oak, leather and tobacco on a layer off dry tannins. This wine will age up to 15-20 years, but why wait – They’ll make more.

2017 Landmark Vineyards "Overlook" Chardonnay ~ $18
(Sonoma County) Winemaker's Notes: Pale yellow in the glass, showing aromas of meyer lemon, baked apple and honeysuckle. The fullbodied palate shows ripe lemon, yellow apple skin on entry with, creamy peach, subtle butterscotch notes and chamomile flower with a hint of salted caramel on the mid palate. The finish has an attractive mineral texture and fresh acidity with lightly toasted brioche and tropical fruit notes. Pair simply with yellowtail sashimi garnished with a fresh lemon wedge, or try it with a dressed-up Pairs beautifully with browned scallops in an herbed butter roux. Also try a firm cheese such as a gouda or dry jack.

2016 Bokisch Monastrell ~ $20
(Lodi) Winemaker's Notes: This is the first vintage of Monastrell from the Sheldon Hills Vineyard and the change is noteworthy! The terroir is Redding Gravelly Clay Loam and the Sloughhouse AVA gets warmer evenings which create a bigger, bolder Monastrell. This wine is super dark and full of earthy aromas, oiled leather and white pepper. It has gripping tannins with a full bodied texture ending with a bright acidity. Flavors of ripe fresh blackberry, Santa Rosa plum, and chocolate covered coffee beans end with hints of licorice. Pair with espresso rubbed filet mignon and wild mushroom sauce.

Torres "Magdala" Orange Brandy Liqueur
(Spain) Magdala is a Mediterranean orange liqueur made by steeping orange peel in grape brandy that is carefully distilled in small batches at the Torres distillery in the Penedès (Barcelona). Pale amber color. Intense, complex aroma. A perception of orange blossom and bitter orange, as well as notes of aromatic herbs. The palate is silky in texture with citrusy nuances that define its persistent, elegant character.

2014 Margerum "Late Harvest" Sauvignon Blanc ~ $24
(Santa Barbara County) Winemaker's Notes: Nose of juicy fruit, honey and ripe melon. Pleasantly sweet yet not cloying attack of more ripe fruit nicely balanced with rich Meyer lemon acidity in the evolution and long finish. Will age gracefully through 2020 developing nectar-like aromatics and becoming richer and even more honeyed. A well balanced dessert wine that pairs well with fruit salad, custardy desserts like crème brûlée, or salty cheeses.

NV Hidalgo Pedro Ximenez Sherry ~ $21 (500ml)
(Spain) Dense and velvety, and caramel in color, this wine is an explosion of raisins, dry figs and honey. It can be used for reduction sauces and for baking yet it is an excellent accompaniment to blue cheese, poured over vanilla ice cream or served alone.
