Spain presents us with a dizzying variety of regional wines, but only a few of them have established themselves as familiar to American wine drinkers. To provide ourselves with a foundation for understanding the fascinating and rapidly-evolving wines of this country, we’ll focus on better-known regions that are easily explored. We’ll taste contrasting styles of Tempranillo-based reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, Albariño from Rias Baixas, and sparkling Cava from the Penedès. Producers will include Lopez de Heredia, Marques de Murrieta, Dominio de Pingus, and Raventos i Blanc.
