Asheville’s Best Free Christmas and Holiday Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

With Christmas less than two weeks away, it’s time to break out the good stuff. And we’ll do just that and all you have to do is stop by. From whites perfect for the Feast of the Seven Fishes to reds that will pair perfectly with your holiday feasts, we’re pulling the corks on some super-classy and regal whites and reds. Stop by, taste, learn, and save big!

All the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. NV Avinyo Reserva Brut Cava (Penedes, Spain) - Small grower/producer Cava just tastes better than the big factory-produced stuff. Aged for 24 months on the lees, this “Champagne lookalike” is lovely, dry, and laced with notes of golden apple, yeast and mineral. A great way to kick off any sort of holiday festivities.

2. 2017 Domaine Lafage Cuvée Centenaire (Roussillon, France) - Old vine Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, and Roussanne (100+ years old to be exact) make up this gorgeous, stylish white. Exotic notes of guava, white peach, melon, citrus zest and spice show up on the nose and palate of this perennial top value. Having salmon or scallops for Christmas dinner? This would pair perfectly.

3. 2017 Galerie Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley, California) - This is a stunner of a Sauvignon Blanc from a fairly new boutique producer out of Napa. Much richer and more concentrated than most domestic Sauvignon Blanc, this one delights the palate with notes of white peach, pink grapefruit, and savory herb. Enjoy this stunning Sauvignon Blanc with a goat cheese tart.

4. 2017 Familia Schroeder ‘Saurus’ Pinot Noir (Patagonia, Argentina) - Patagonia is becoming a hotbed of Pinot Noir activity. After you taste this one you’ll understand why. With ripe notes of cherry and strawberry followed by more complex floral/spice nuances, this under-$20 Pinot Noir easily competes with many $25+ domestic versions. And it would taste great with turkey, pork or poultry.

5. 2018 Cordero di Montezemolo Barbera d’Alba (Piemonte, Italy) - This highly respected Barolo estate also produces one of our favorite Barberas and the 2018 is a stunner. Boasting a sappy, opaque color and good concentration, it remains light on its feet due to Barbera’s natural acidity. Look for notes of violet-infused plum, blueberry, and dark cherry. Versatile at the table, try this one with everything from lasagna to filet mignon.

6. Surprise Wine (Napa Valley, California) - We’ll open just one bottle of this one, and it’s from a legendary Napa Valley producer. Come early or miss out…
