6 nights, 5 days self-guided walking moving between guest houses
This independent walking holiday takes place in the Beaujolais region, located to the north and east of Lyon, which is made up of a series of beautiful rolling hills getting progressively higher as you go north, giving rise to some delightful walking. Despite the relatively gentle nature of their slopes, the scale of the peaks and the depths of the valleys create a landscape of great panoramas and rich contrasts.
This wine trails walking holiday traverses the southern Beaujolais and follows on from our Beaujolais wine trails holiday through the Grand Crus region. Your walking trail traverses a number of pretty valleys which descend from the higher hills, harbouring pretty chateaux and quaint villages. Your trail then traverses the “Golden stones country” (pierres dorées), so-called due to the warm colour of the limestone which make up a number of remarkable villages that are set in a sumptuous landscape of interlocking hills. You'll get the chance to sample the varied wines that Beaujolais has to offer, both at your guest houses, located on vineyards, as well as at other producers along the way. Included in this will be the opportunity to sample the southern most Grand Crus, such as Regnie and Brouilly.
At the end of each day you'll be welcomed with open arms at your small, quaint guest houses where the hospitality is excellent and you'll be treated to great local food and wine.
