This month Trish Rowell from United Liquors (a Martignetti company) will be our Wine Wednesday host. Trish will be pouring some very interesting and different wines from Sicily & Sardinia. We hope you will join us for this educational and fun tasting.
The Lineup: Sicily
Terra Costantino de Aetna Etna Bianco DOC – a white blend of Sicilian indigenous white grapes from volcanic soil like Carricante, Cataratto and Minnella. Stainless steel aged with crisp citrus and herb notes and a medium body. Ratings in the 90’s by James Suckling and Wine enthusiast.
Feudo Principi di Butera Nero d’Avola – Bright ruby red, dry, with notes of mouthwatering red fruit, wild mushrooms and espresso. Polished tannins with a lingering mineral finish.
Sardinia
Pala I Fiori Vermentino di Sardegna DOC – 90 point ratings – 100% Vermentino. Starw colored with floral and herbaceous aromas with notes of thyme. Med-full bodied, good balance, long, slightly briny finish. Excellent with all shellfish.
Pala I Fiori Cannonau di Sardegna DOC – One of the oldest Sardinian indigenous grapes, Cannonau from this 40 year old clay & gravel vineyard boasts intense ruby color with subtle spice and mature red fruit aromas. Medium body, lingering finish. 90+ point ratings.
