Cabernet Franc, the quiet parent grape of flashy Cabernet Sauvignon, plummy Merlot, and tannic Carmenère, deserves far more attention than it gets. Often described as the feminine side of Cabernet Sauvignon, it is subtly fragrant and gently flirtatious rather than massively muscular and tough in youth. Although often grown for blending (think Bordeaux), it is also vinified alone. Join us as we venture into various Cabernet Franc producing regions of the world. From France’s Loire to the Languedoc, Michigan, and California (with a few surprise stops in between!), you will not want to miss our exploration of the “other” Cabernet.
