Great lineup on the tasting table this weekend, from our featured Pinot Value to a powerful Zin from Dave Phinney of Prisoner fame.
Citra Chardonnay Terre di Chieti 2018 – A delicious, clean, refreshing, no-oak, Chardonnay from Italy’s Adriatic coast in Abruzzo. A bit of stone fruit, crisp green apple, and exotic tropical fruit ride along in a wine that shows a touch of richness but stays light and fresh. From $6.98, this is terrific value.
Anton Bauer Pinot Noir Wagram 2016 – One of the best values in high-end Pinot Noir we’ve tasted in years, this Wine Enthusiast 93 point Austrian red is loaded with ripe cherry/berry fruit and just right accents of Pinot’s signature fresh earth and spice.
Dom des Tourels Merlot Pays d'Oc 2017 - You'll smell the Languedoc's sunshine on the nose of sun-ripened blackberry and black currant fruit and taste in as flavors of warm berries, dark chocolate, and fresh herb coat your palate and keep on gushing through a soft, supple, easygoing finish. A fun bargain
Capolino Perlingieri Sciascinoso Sciascio 2011 – Another new grape from Italy – this time in the form of a fruit-filled blend of 20% Aglianico and 80% Sciascinoso. Traditionally a blending grape (and one in steep decline), here it’s lends dark color and loads of plummy berry fruit supported by Aglianico’s bright acidity and firm tannins. A joy to drink, but limited.
Crane Assembly Disciples 2016 – A monumental Zinfandel blend from some of Napa’s finest vineyards with a big Wine Advocate 93 point rating gets even better at our end-of-vintage $39.98 best price. Don’t miss this one.
As always, we’ll have some treats from the cheese case out to enjoy with the wines and best pricing available on a mix/match basis during the tasting. Join us!
