The Wine Scholar Guild is an internationally recognized certification body for advanced wine learning. Their programs are respectively the most comprehensive formal study programs available bar none. Upon passing the French Wine Scholar examination, the scholar receives a diploma and the right to add the post nominals FWS (French Wine Scholar) to their name.

This course, taught by Seattle-based wine educator Tanya Morning Star Darling, CWE and FWS, offers continued in-depth study of France’s wine-producing regions, covering topics including grape varieties, origin of cultivars, geological exploration, wine cultivation and viticulture, history of the region’s winemaking, food specific to each region and regulations for wine categories. Each class will include sensory evaluation of representative wines from the regions studied.

A materials fee of $250 will be assessed and paid separately to the host venue. Students must be 21 years of age to participate in wine tasting.
