ABOUT: This new and fun wine and food festival that will feature Willcox and Arizona wineries, gourmet food vendors and local artisans. The Willcox area is the source of the most highly rated Arizona wines by Wine Spector, with 45 wines rated 88-90 points over past 10 years! They grow over 75% of all wine grapes in the state. Additional wineries from the original wine growing region of Sonoita will be join the festival.
The day includes music by local groups and opera performances sprinkled in-between highlighting various types of opera. Opera is much more than European songs performed to tell a serious story. Today, operas include Comic Operas; Opera Semiseria with their happy endings; the Grand Opera, a larger scale, with flamboyant costumes, choruses and ballet or dance. Operas today are performed in many languages and have even been translated into English.
Culinary delights from Chef Ken Foy of Tucson’s own Dante’s Fire will be available. There will be a number of specialty food vendors featuring olive oils, chocolates and nuts for sampling.
The event supports Arizona Opera’s Educational programs in the schools and the community.
