In 1934, Pierre Taittinger founded Champagne Taittinger. This family-owned company has maintained a tradition of quality for more than 80 years. Champagne Taittinger owns an extensive 752 acres of vineyards within Champagne’s finest crus. Known as Champagne’s “Chardonnay house,” Taittinger is renowned for using a high percentage of Chardonnay in its blends, providing it with a unique personality. Taittinger's award-winning Cômtes de Champagne is aged for 8 to 10 years to gain its subtle depth and complexity. Other marques age their top cuvées for only 5-6 years. There are more than 1,000 Champagne brands on the market, only 24 of which qualify as being a Grandes Marque. And, of those 24, Champagne Taittinger ranks as the #4 house in international sales and prestige. The estate is still run by the Taittinger family -- the father, son, and daughter team of Pierre-Emmanuel, Clovis and Vitalie -- real people who make certain that the quality and soul residing under the Taittinger label lives on.
