Like or love Italian wines? If you answered yes,  join us this Saturday for our free wine tasting featuring an all-star cast of Italian wines.

Last week’s bigger and better French wine tasting was a hit, so I’m going to stick to that format again this week, albeit with Italian wines. Stop by to sample 5 unique and diverse, small grower/producer wines from the varied vineyards of Italy. With an emphasis on wines from Piedmont Wine Imports, one of our favorite Italian suppliers, this guarantees to be the best Italian wine tasting in town. Stop by, taste, learn, and save every Saturday at Table Wine.

Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!

Don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day.

1. 2017 Scaia Bianco (Veneto, Italy) – Talk about a uniquely delicious white wine. From Tenuta Sant’Antonio, a top Amarone producer, their little white is a blend of Chardonnay and Garganega. Highly aromatic with loads of floral/herbal nuances and mixed citrus fruits, it’s a perfect all-around white for all occasions.

2. 2016 Oltretorrente Cortese Colli Tortonesi (Piemonte, Italy) –Chiara Penati and Michele Conoscente are a young, wine-obsessed couple from Milan, and their organic farm in Paderna is turning out some compelling wines. Cortese is most well-known in Gavi production, and this one easily rivals the best of that famed appellation. Fresh, snappy and bright, but not thin, this is Italy’s answer to Chablis.

3. 2017 Thurnhof St. Magdalener (Alto Adige, Italy) – This will be a new one for many of you. Team Table Wine loves it! Andreas Berger speaks Austrian, and his red wine very much reminds me of an Austrian red. St. Magdalener, aka Vernatsch, aka Schiava, aka Trollinger produces, fresh and medium-bodied red wines with loads of cool red fruits and hints of flowers and spices. For fans of Gamay and Pinot Noir, you’re gonna’ love this one.

4. 2015 Vallana Barbera (Piemonte, Italy) – Vallana was described by Wine Spectator as one of the top 100 producers on the planet. You’ll get no argument from me there, and their Barbera is a stunner at less than $15! Perfect for consuming now, this one has a great track record for holding up and improving for 5-7 years. Stock up on this one for whatever — it’s great with hearty meals, but it drinks fine without food too.

5. Surprise Wine – Like surprises? Trust me, you’ll like this one!
