I met Mac McDonald from Vision Cellars several years back when I was selling wine in Highlands, NC. He let me taste his wines, even though I didn’t represent them, and I knew right away that I wasn’t going to be selling much wine that day because all of my accounts would be buying Mac’s wines.  A super guy with a great personality and great skill in the vineyard and the cellar, Mac’s Vision Cellars is exactly the type of producer we like to work with. I wish Mac could join us for this tasting, but he’s too busy tending to his vines. No problem, Anne Kaufmann of Advintage Distributing will be in the house pouring the wines and telling the stories. Stop by, taste, learn, and save big every Saturday at Table Wine.

All of the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day only.

1. 2017 Vision Cellars White Wine (Various Regions, California) –Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris may not be the common white blend, but Mac melds these two light white varieties beautifully. The resulting wine is fruit filled, with great acidity and notes of juicy citrus, golden apple, melon and tropical fruits. A prime “porch pounder” candidate, you’re gonna’ love it.

2. 2015 Vision Cellars Pinot Noir (Sonoma County, California) – Mac was trained as a winemaker by the Wagner family, of Caymus and Belle Glos fame. You can certainly detect that in this rich and decadent Pinot Noir that comes from Ms. Lil’s Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Layered, ripe, and flowing with pleasure-bent notes of ripe cherry, plum, spice, and vanilla, it glides across the palate effortlessly. Just 750 cases produced.

3. 2013 Vison Cellars Pinot Noir “Gary’s Vineyard” (Santa Lucia Highlands, California) –Located inland from Monterey in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Garys’ Vineyard is widely recognized for producing some of the finest Pinot Noir in California. Named after partners Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni, the vineyard was planted in 1995 using clandestinely obtained budwood from the famed La Tâche vineyard in Burgundy. Mac is one of the few producers who has access to this fruit, and his version is rich, compelling, savory, and complex. Just 169 cases produced!
