THE ULTIMATE IN SENSORY TRAINING: An intensive program to prepare for upper-level blind tasting exams or competitions and bring your tasting skills to the next level.
Developed by Master Sommelier David Glancy, this program is designed to enhance your blind wine analysis techniques like never before! Serious enthusiasts and professional wine students will sharpen their ability to assess structure and identify aromas. In addition, students will taste classic wines from around the world to hone varietal and regional identification skills. Drills will include an emphasis on focus, timing, descriptions and conclusions.

SYLLABUS OVERVIEW
Hone your identification skills with Master Sommelier David Glancy as you tackle challenging flights of both neutral white wines and intensely herbal whites to discover and profile the similarities and differences in the varietals. Global wine regions are also considered as Master Glancy helps you decipher the differences between regional and varietal influences.
Master Sommelier David Glancy helps students tackle the most challenging flights of wines from thick-skinned red grapes. Explore examples from jammy to tannic to identify the similarities and differences in each grape and discuss the major regions globally and as you learn to decipher the differences in regional versus varietal identity.
Bubbles, Botrytis & Fortified Wines
Master Sommelier David Glancy helps students tackle the most challenging flights of sparkling wines, fortified wines and non-fortified dessert wines. Learn to identify the similarities and differences in each wine and discuss the major regions and styles globally. Decipher what differences are derived from grape variety, terroir, vineyard practices, winemaking or aging.
Timing & Technique Drills
In this workshop, Master Sommelier David Glancy guides students to be fast, fluid tasters. Students will continue to practice their improved blind tasting skills using various techniques and drills to sharpen their focus and improve their timing. Master Glancy will also teach students exam preparation and test-taking strategies to help students work smarter not harder.
Intermediate wine theory and blind tasting experience are recommended for this program. We encourage beginning wine students to take Somm Essentials or a blind tasting workshop prior to enrolling in this Program.
