Paesano Restaurant in Ann Arbor is hosting an early spring Wine Dinner featuring the wines of Cantina Scacciadiavoli. The date is Wednesday, March 28, at 6:30pm. Special guest for the evening is Italian vintner IACOPO PAMBUFFETTI, a 4th generation wine-maker.
Scacciadiavola is the fruit of a dream by Prince Ugo Boncompagni-Ludovisi, of Rome and is one of the oldest properties in Montefalco, Umbria. The Scacciadiavola (from scacciare - to banish, and diavoli - devils) winery was founded in 1884 and takes its name from an exorcist that lived in a town at the borders of the property who used the wine for his rituals.
“This is a rare treat for us the Paesano wine lovers,” says Paesano owner Mike Roddy. “Iacopo is a very entertaining speaker and promisees to tell us about the whimsical story behind the name of his winery and other interesting facts about their terroir in Umbria. Guests will be enchanted by his stories, fanciful tales and historical facts as they enjoy drinking his wines.”
Chef Drew has paired a seasonal, multi course dinner with Umbrian roots to compliment the Scacciadiavola wines. One of the wines being poured is the “Montefalco Sagrantino 2011” which made the Wine Spectator’s lis of TOP 100 Wines of 2017. Cost for the 5-course, 5-wine sit-down dinner is $80 per person (+tax & grat.). Reservations required and space is limited.
