Then, a team of whimsically named, over-the-top modern reds will stop you in your tracks: Bootleg (powerful, smooth Merlot-based blend), Machete (Orin Swift’s Petite Sirah-Syrah), Rattlesnake (Mt. Peak’s super-ripe lusty Zinfandel) and Shatter (Joel Gott’s Roussillon-inspired Grenache). All deep, interesting, and powerful… We’ll tie a crimson bow around this experience with a fine Napa Cabernet.
