Bartending  ~  It’s fun! It’s social!   And it can be very lucrative!

Designed locally by a lifelong bartender and restaurant owner, this course will provide all the information needed to start bartending and earn extra money in your spare time or begin your professional career.  This course will provide instructions and demonstration on how to set up a bar, use of different types and sizes of glasses, how to order spirits, keep count of inventory and general costs, plus control of a bar/lounge and the proper way of mixing drinks.  You’ll also learn where to find the top paying jobs.

When looking for work in the bartending field, per the State of Maine Department of Labor website, "The Maine Bureau of Liquor Enforcement prohibits teens under 18 from handling, serving, or selling alcoholic beverages.  Exceptions: 15-year olds can handle liquor (for example, stocking and carrying) but not serve or sell it and 17-year olds can serve or sell liquor if a supervisor 21 or older is present."

Class will meet on Saturday, February 24 & Sunday, February 25 from 10 am - 4 pm.

Register here https://www.smccme.edu/business-community/continuing-studies/continuing-studies-browse-register/ or call 207-741-5862.  $249 includes materials.

Alcohol Seller/Server Training is optional and not included in this class.  If interested, students can complete the state of Maine approved program online at https://www1.maine.gov/online/trainsellserve/demo/course-intro.html
