Thought to be over two thousand years old, Pinot Noir is considered to be the great-great-grandparent of many other well-known grapes, like Chardonnay and Gamay, and countless other clones. While Pinot Noir is considered to be one of the most sensual, riveting, and favored varietals in the world, it is undeniably one of the most difficult to grow. It is highly sensitive to climate change, various soil types, and oxidation during the winemaking process, but it's this gamble year after year that many winemakers endure to produce some of the most fascinating, sought-after, and costly wines of all. During this class, we'll be exploring the wonderful classics of this deliciously light, red varietal from New-World regions like Oregon and California and Old-World regions like Pinot Noir's birthplace in Northeast France.
