Leslie and Rod Balsley were inspired to begin making wine when they went to Italy and saw how much wine was a part of the social fabric of everyday life. Rod got his training at U.C. Davis and they became part of the first wave of wineries making wine in Woodinville in 2005. After 12 years, the idea each bottle has the potential to create a shared memory or celebrate a special occasion keeps them focused on delivering exceptional wines. They use old world techniques and moderate use of new oak to make a variety of expressive red wines along with a fragrant Viognier with a focus on single vineyard varietals such as Malbec, Syrah and Cabernet Franc that reflect the unique characteristics of the vineyard. Their wines have earned top honors year after year including 90+ points in Wine Enthusiast and Wine Spectator and being selected in the Top 100 wines of the Northwest by Seattle Metropolitan Magazine.
