The vision of Sorelle Winery began in August of 2007, when our family purchased the historical Dodge Estate. The property has great history, leading back to 1776 where it began as fishing grounds for the Miwok Indians. The first known Americans visited this area in 1825 due to the abundance of wild grapes. Stacked Stone Cellars began in 1998 when owner, Donald Thiessen, united his love of fine craftsmanship with a love of wine. Stacked Stone Cellars produces small quantities of hand crafted wine. Donald named his "liquid assets" after the elaborate stacked stone landscaping adorning the winery grounds and estate vineyard. The estate vineyard produces low yields of highly concentrated, jammy, and intense Zinfandel fruit. Sweet Dreams Winery
We were partners in Mr and Ms Christmas Tree Farm from 1998 to 2002. We went to the State Christmas Tree Growers Association every year. At the convention, they had an auction. We bid on some homemade wine and Mike loved it! It was sweet and made him feel warm all over. When we were no longer able to get this wine, Mike decided to try making some of his own. Mike got a recipe from a friend and actually turned out a very good wine the first time! Lots of people were excited about drinking it from our sprite bottles! From there on, it was experiment time on our sun porch. We bought a small stainless steel tank to make more volume of wine, and still could not keep up with the demand of our family and friends. We asked them if they would buy it if we bottled it and put a cork in it, and they said yes! We decided to get out of our partnership with the tree farm and plant a vineyard. Several years later we started our building and here we are! We are a new winery, having opened September 23, 2006. Somewhere along the way, we won a Gold Medal for our Blackberry Grape wine in an amateur International Winemaker contest.

In the near future, we will plant more Cynthianna grapes in a 33 acre cleared area. The Grapes are harvested in the late summer, and the Muskadines in early fall. Merritt Estate Winery
Merritt Estate Winery was one of the first farm wineries organized in Chautauqua County under regulations signed by Governor Carey in 1976, but the history of the Merritt Estate dates all the way back to the late 1800's. Back then, the original homestead belonged to the parents of Marguerite Merritt-Sample, which means Merritt Estate has been in the family since the late 19th century. William T. Merritt turned the estate into a full-functioning winery back in 1976, and since then his son, Jason C. Merritt, joined the family operation in 1998. The father and son duo dedicate themselves to their small winery and devote their time and energy into producing some of the areas finest wines. Merritt Estate is located in the largest grape growing region east of the Rockies. The grapes and wines produced in this area rival the quality of premium vintages found throughout the world. Visitors are encouraged to visit Merritt Estate to tour our facilities and surrounding vineyards, and enjoy a glass of fine wine in our Hospitality Room.
