The Capital Wine School

The Capital Wine School is the premiere school for wine education in the Washington, DC metro area. Courses offered for beginners and professionals. The school is owned and operated by Jay Youmans MW. Jay is an Advanced Level Sommelier (Court of Master Sommeliers), a Certified Wine Educator (CWE), a Certified Burgundy Wine Educator, and a Master of Wine. He has judged wine at the Star Wine Competition, the California State Fair, and the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition. He has been the competition director for the Virginia Governor's Cup Wine Competition since 2012. He was a contributoring author to The Business of Wine, published by Greenwood Press (2009). Tom DiNardo - The Wine Zealot

Tom DiNardo has worked in the wine industry in both California and Washington. With a reverence for the grape, Tom continues his passionate pursuit today as a wine consultant and educator who teaches others about oenology and wine collecting. Mr. DiNardo is a sommelier diplomate with the International Sommelier Guild and a member of the Society of Wine Educators. He is a freelance writer for Wine Enthusiast, Decanter, and Santé Magazines, and is a regular contributor to Wine Squire.com. Tom is a featured auctioneer for Chicago based ERI wine auction gallery, and has sold some of the finest and rarest wines from around the world. Mr. DiNardo is also a certified master appraiser (ISA-AM & MPPA)and prior to his wine immersion experience, Tom DiNardo founded DiNardo & Lord Auctioneersin 1993. Laurie Forster, The Wine Coach

Laurie Forster is an award-winning sommelier, author, TV personality and comedian. Her edgy approach to demystifying wine caught the eye of major networks and led her to guest appearances on FOX Morning News, Martha Stewart Living Today and ABC News at Noon. She’s performed her wine themed comedy at the DC IMPROV, Carolines on Broadway, Broadway Comedy Club, Tampa IMPROV, Avalon Theatre and The RamsHead On Stage. Forster is also the host of her radio show The Sipping Point on WBAL 1090AM and her mobile application "The Wine Coach" was listed as one of the Top 8 Wine Apps in Wine Enthusiast, Top 5 Wine Apps in the World by Departures International Magazine and 2012 App of the Year from Go Mobile Solutions. A former software sales executive, Laurie’s wine career began in Manhattan where she studied with the American Sommelier Association to obtain her certificate in Viticulture and Vinification. Laurie has since earned an Advanced Certificate with Merit from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET). She has also trained with the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley.
