Bear Dalton is the corporate fine wine buyer for Spec's Liquor Stores. He has been teaching Texans about wine since 1984. He has taught for Rice University's School of Continuing Studies since 1988 and for the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the UH (intermittently) since 2001. He is the proprietor of the Wine School at l'Alliance Française. In his job at Spec's, Dalton tastes over 9,000 wines each year and travels regularly in wine regions around the world. He has written on wine for My Table, Spec's Update, and Drinks Magazine. He holds a CSW from the Society of Wine Educators, an Advanced certification from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) and is certified as an International Bordeaux Educator by the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux. he was instrumental in founding and has served as chairman of the Wine Competition and Auction Committee at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
