Wine Cooler For White And Reds At One Temp?

We just got a wine cooler that holds 45 bottles which we would like to be both reds and whites (typically drier varieties of both). However, there is only one possible temperature setting - a guage that is 0-8 which the user manual recommends around a 2/3 for reds and a 6ish for whites. Since we hope to include red and white, does anyone have a solution? Splitting the difference doesn't seem quite right...perhaps there is a way to insulate the reds or place them on top if heat rises?? Thank you so much for any insight!

I would not worry about trying to achieve some "perfect" temperature, or about different temperatures for the whites vs. the reds. I am not sure how to interpret the range of 0-8, but one way to figure this out is to purchase an inexpensive refrigerator thermometer and check several settings over a period of a week or two. You can even verify if there is a difference between the top and bottom of the cooler, but the cabinet is probably too small for real variation. The goal should be to find a setting of between 50 degrees F, for slow development of the wines over a longer period, to at most 60 degrees F, for stable but more rapid evolution.
