Red Wine

I like Pinot Noir, I was wondering if there is a wine just a little bit more on the sweet side. thank you
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

Interest in sweet or semi-sweet red wines is growing, and for those who like a touch of sugar there are many options. Generally, the reds with this profile tend to be made from a blend of grape varieties or rather obscure ones which will be hard to find. While Pinot Noir in other than a dry style is less common, many popular brands rely on sweetness as part of their taste profile even if they don't mention that fact on the label. As someone who likes Pinot, I would guess you favor a softer and lighter red. I think your best strategy is to sample a number of wines from widely available producers to see which version of Pinot might suit your preferences. At the modestly priced end of the market, Barefoot or Yellow Tail might be right. You can also try Hahn Estates, a reliable value across their range. It might be a good idea as well to try other wine types. Look for California blended reds which say "semi-sweet" or "sweet" on the label, or search online to learn more. One of these blends might just be what you're looking for even though they do not rely on Pinot Noir as part of their grape mix.
