Muscadine vs muscato

I have leukemia and have been told that the muscadine grape has been soccessfuly used to fight prostate cancer and is now thought to help leukemia. I have used the whit grape juice....the seed capsules and our local FL res wine. The muscato from Italy is less expensive but it is not mentioned in the medical reports. If youGoogle the words muscatine cancer you will see the medical experiments and claims. Will moscato give the same benefits? Thank you. Janet McGrath

Answer From Expert Roger C. Bohmrich, MW

I am not qualified to discuss the medical benefits of any type of grape (or wine). As a wine professional, I am interested in the health aspects of wine and follow reports about past and current research. However, it is commonplace to find contradictions in research outcomes, so I am personally reluctant to embrace any single study. I think you are on the right track in terms of evaluating any new research very carefully before making your own personal choices. I wish you success in finding credible answers which can truly help your condition.
