Shelf Lift

I wanted to make a batch of latavia wine...mixing carlo rossi burgundy wine with whiskey, everclear, sugar, and maraschino cherries....how would I store that and how long will it last? What will make it last the longest?
Answer From Expert Roger Bohmrich MW

Latavia is supposedly a Serbian specialty, or at least one that some claim is based on a Serbian recipe. I am not sure what the shelf life would be, but my guess is that it should keep for quite a while since the whisky and Everclear (normally 151 proof) should also serve as preservatives of a sort. Keeping it in the refrigerator will probably prolong its life. All I can say is, with the combination of the sugar and high alcohol, this is one deadly drink. Seriously, don't handle sharp instruments, operate power equipment or machinery, and definitely don't drive - even walking might be a problem for some people after consuming this concoction!
