Q&A: Wine & Food Questions

Information on bottles of wine found
I found 3 bottles of wine in an attic. 1973 Masi Soave, 1971 Masi Bardolino, and 1971 Masi Valpolicella. All in a wooden box. What can you tell me about them?
Answer From Expert Roger C. Bohmrich, MW
These all appear to be the basic bottlings of well-known wine types from a fine house, Masi, in the Veneto region of Italy. I am guessing that what you have is a gift assortment from a holiday promotion thirty-five years ago! Someone may have received them as a present at the time and thought they should be kept. All these wines were intended for drinking on release. If stored for years in a warm attic, there is little chance they will still be drinkable.
