Q&A: Wine, Food, Beer, Or Spirits Questions

Finding a South African Wine in New York

I am trying to find a distributor or retailer in New York State, preferably in the Greater Rochester/Upstate region that carries Escape 2006 Sweet Shiraz from Stellenbosch, South Africa. I'll even take a later vintage if 2006 is not available. Or one that can shp it to me.

Answer From Expert Roger C. Bohmrich, MW

It is very difficult to find any information on this wine, and no distributor is listed for Metropolitan New York under this brand name. One source indicated that an Escape Sweet Shiraz was produced by Mulderbosch winery, which is represented by Cape Classics (capeclassics.com). You may want to contact them directly. If you can find the wine, you will need to purchase it from a retailer, not directly from the wholesale distributor, if you are a consumer.
