Q&A: Wine & Food Questions

100 point wine, what to drink as a warm up?
I have a 100 point Latour (1990)....what should I drink leading up to it? I lean New World---bold, fresh fruit (I know--Latour is not necessarily in my sweet spot).........thanks....

It would really be difficult to recommend the "warm up" wine without knowing a great deal more about your preferences and the setting. I am assuming you are having the wines with a meal? How many courses and other wines will you have, and what are the specific dishes? I would personally prefer to match the wines with certain foods, moving from lighter and more subtle to something substantial and complex, in keeping with the Latour 1990. If there are only two courses, then you could start with a white or a youthful, lighter red. But all this should be determined by your own preferences...
