Cambas Mavrodaphne Golden Cream - 40 year old bott
I found a bottle of Cambas Mavrodaphne Golden Cream approx 40 - 45 years old. Is it worth anything?
Answer From Expert Roger C. Bohmrich, MW
First, how do you know that it is 40 - 45 years old? What proof of age can you find on the bottle?
Mavrodaphne of Patras, a fortified sweet wine from the Peleponnese in Greece, can be a delicious drink. It is often sold at a very modest price, and the best examples can therefore be terrific values.
I would say that the value of this particular wine lies primarily in the discovery of its taste at this point, particularly if it is indeed as old as you indicate.
