Sophie Rudge - BLEND
Originally an events management professional, Sophie Rudge founded Blend – a corporate wine consultancy – in 2004. Born in Stratford-upon-Avon, a degree in International Management and French led Sophie first to Grenoble, then to Paris and San Francisco and finally back to her native England. France Telecom, ACE Europe, RodberThorneycroft, and Universal Conference & Incentive Travel have all benefited from her experience in making the right things happen at the right time. With stints in both France and California it was only a matter of time before the wine bug bit and Sophie now holds the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma for which she was awarded the IWSC (International Wine & Spirits Competition) Scholarship for overall merit, Sophie is now a recommended tutor for the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) up to and including Diploma level. But Blend does much more than just teach how to taste wine like a pro... The combination of Sophie's event management experience and wine knowledge allows her to capitalise on the huge demand for corporate entertainment. 'Many companies find that another off-roading weekend or slap-up meal no longer encourage the bonding with clients or colleagues that they require. On the other hand, everyone has an opinion about wine and we provide a setting in which customers and their clients can build personal relationships in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.' says Rudge. Blend designs everything from an evening's wine tasting to week-long programmes; each uses wine to maximise the time people spend working with each other. 'Even the simplest Call My Bluff wine tasting will get everyone talking and working together - it's far more effective than just opening the bottles and listening to some hideous wine bore for two hours'.
