The UBC Understanding Wine Program, University of British Columbia
Ready to explore the fascinating flavours and styles of wine? The UBC Understanding Wine Program in association with the UBC Wine Research Centre offers an entertaining and systematic approach: 1) sensory training for technical analysis of wine, 2) building your knowledge base of the wine-grape varieties and wine styles, 3) learning of the factors that influence the flavours of wine including terroir, processing and ageing, 4) exploring the appellations of the main wine regions of the world & how to interpret the labels from these appellations, and 5) demonstrating how and why certain wines pair with certain foods. With a UBC Wine Science Instructor and professionals and guests from within the wine industry - a number of fun, diverse courses are taught both at UBC Vancouver campus and UBC Robson Square. The Understanding Wine Program is part of the Language, Culture and Travel Program at UBC Continuing Studies that encourages everyone to “Learn the language and live the culture!”
