Avalon Tours first started visiting Chile and Argentina in 1995, before most wine enthusiasts were aware of what was happening there. We have seen wineries in both of these South American countries transform from the old rustic style to today's state-of-the-art facilities that produce excellent wines. We are watching South America develop its amazing potential in some of the most interesting vineyards in the world

We visit historic Santiago as well as top regions of Chile, the Colchagua Valley and the Apalta Valley home to several award-winning wineries. To the west of Santiago we visit the Casablanca Valley. We explore the Maipo Valley, famous for major estates Concha y Toro, Santa Rita and Undurraga – some of the oldest vineyards in Chile – plus some of the newest and most famous “Ultra-Chileans”, like Almaviva.
In the heart of Argentina wine industry, is Mendoza, a surprising contrast from Chile, just over the Andes mountains. Famous worldwide for it’s Malbec, you’ll discover other great wines as well as super hospitality and the best BBQs in South America! Finally, Salta, home to some of the highest and most spectacular vineyards in the world!
