A visit to Bordeaux is a delightful way to spend your time and your travel dollars. Bordeaux is beautiful. Known as the culinary center of France, Bordeaux offers amazing French cuisine. Each plate is made with freshly grown local ingredients, and of course served with world-class wine - both red and white. Bordeaux sometimes called "Petite Paris", is an 18th century city full of French culture and charm. The city was deemed in 2007 as a UNESCO world heritage site. Sprawled along the banks of the Garonne river, Bordeaux is an elegant city. The city is full of architecture, palaces, and fountains, with a quietly unhurried feel. Take a relaxing day to get lost in its small pedestrian streets. Stroll through public gardens that open up into surprising squares with stately buildings and romantic outdoor restaurants.It is a city full of vitality, with a wide range of visitors which give it a cosmopolitan feel. You won't have to search for smiling friendly natives, many speak English and all are ready to help.Try some foie gras at the graceful Chapon Fin, a restaurant founded in 1825, it is an exciting center of culinary creativity as well as a national monument. Take time to stroll Rue Catherine a 1.2 km pedestrian street for some shopping. Visit the iconic areas of Saint-Émilion, Margaux, Sauternes, Haute-Medoc and the list goes on. Bordeaux wines are of the best in the world. Once you've had an the experience of being in the chateaux region and understanding this fabulous wine, no matter where in the world you drink it, it will never be the same again.
