En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air", and is particularly used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein Air Painting Festival showcases local artists painting the local landscape. Artists arrive in the early morning hours to have their canvases stamped and dated then head out to spend two days painting the surrounding scenery. The weekend's highlight is the Artist's Gala Reception featuring live music, fine foods and wines, and a juried art competition. Second week in August.
