We're calling this wine and food event “First-Name Basis” because at the heart of it are two people we love, whose wines we feel an intimacy with and are constantly proud to offer. Chris Campbell and Michele D’Aprix are our close friends. We were first drawn to them because their wines are singular, but we wouldn’t still be selling them if we hadn’t grown to love Chris and Michele and to consider them part of the extended Rosemont family.
Some long-time Rosemont customers may remember wine dinners we held in the old Rosemont bakery space (which even before that was our first retail space). Chris’s understanding of wine and food were the original impetus for those dinners, and he played central roles in several of them. Or maybe you recall when we used to roll the vegetable carts to the back of our Commercial Street store (!!!!), and set tables out front to cover with food platters and wine bottles. The best one we ever did there was with Michele, when she led us through a gorgeous line-up of her Bordeaux.
That’s the spirit we’re getting back to with events on the porch at our Shore Road store. The food won’t be as elaborate (though it'll be very, very tasty!, but the experience will, we hope, be just as rich and memorable.
