1. 2017 Mas Janeil Les Hauts de Janeil Blanc (Roussillon, France) – Talk about the perfect blend! 60% Grenache Blanc contributes ripe and spicy notes of apricot and exotic white flowers, while 40% Sauvignon Blanc adds bright citrus and crisp acidity. The finished product is a ton of wine for the money. For fans of the Cercius Blanc, you’ve got to try this.
2. 2017 Fontanavecchia Falanghina Taburno (Campania, Italy) – Falanghina is one of Southern Italy’s oldest and most important white grapes, and Fontanavecchia makes one of the country’s best versions. Consumed liberally in Southern Italy with seafood, it offers up rich, yet zesty notes of peach and tropical fruits, along with hints of flowers and freshly cut grass.
3. 2017 La Bastide Blanche Bandol Rose (Provence, France) – I love me some Tempier Bandol Rose, but man, the price on that one has gone way up. No problem, La Bastide Blanche produces a wine that rivals Tempier, but costs half the price. Primarily Mourvedre, from old, organically farmed vineyards, this one shows the more powerful, intense side of dry rose. The 2017 hasn’t been reviewed yet, but it’s never scored lower than 90 points.
